Prepare for Holiday Travel Baggage Costs
Add luggage and baggage rules to a trip budget before booking.
The ticket price may not include the bags you plan to bring. Checked baggage, weight limits, and transfers can change the cost of a holiday trip.
Check each journey
Read the baggage allowance for every carrier and leg, including the return. Rules can differ on a connection. Use the carrier’s current terms instead of assuming last year’s allowance still applies.
Pack against the plan
Estimate what you really need to carry and whether shared luggage is practical. Include any equipment or gifts you will bring back. Buying an extra bag is a separate cost from paying to check it.
Leave room for changes
Record the booked baggage charges and any later additions. If plans change, revisit the full trip total before paying another fee.
